More than encryption: client security with Threema Work and Threema OnPrem<\/h2>\r\n \r\n \r\n

Where no data is collected, no data can be misused. Threema, the Swiss pioneer in secure communication solutions for private individuals and businesses, has been following this principle since its foundation in 2012. The company therefore only collects data that is absolutely necessary for the provision of its services and deletes messages from the server immediately after successful delivery (keyword: “zero knowledge”).<\/p>\n

Messages, calls and files are end-to-end encrypted by default. This means that the app does not need to be specially configured, nor are specific security policies required to protect corporate communications \u2013 a clear distinguishing feature compared to common collaboration tools such as MS Teams, where data is processed on the server side and is not encrypted by default.<\/p>\n

However, client security is particularly relevant when messages are stored locally on end devices. Both Threema Work as a SaaS solution and Threema OnPrem as a self-hosted solution are designed to minimise security risks on the client side. This is where “security at rest” comes into play: data stored on the end device is encrypted so that other apps or malware cannot access it. On Android, a passphrase can also be defined for local encryption.<\/p>\n

In addition, extensive configuration settings support client security. They enable administrators to enforce policies or disable certain functions for users. For example, you can specify that an app PIN must be set up, that no backups can be created, or that communication is only permitted with internal contacts.<\/p>\n
