Zero Trust in the age of AI-supported cyberattacks: Why companies need to act now

The zero-trust approach is not just a buzzword, but a necessary response to a radically changed threat environment. According to the latest SonicWall Cyber Threat Report 2025, the situation has worsened dramatically: companies were the target of critical attacks for an average of 68 days. IoT attacks increased by 124% and encrypted threats by 93%. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), often the backbone of the economy but with limited security resources, are particularly affected.

Zero Trust means: never trust, always verify. Every access – whether internal or external – is consistently checked. Micro-segmentation, multi-factor authentication (MFA) and role-specific access controls are central elements of this model. However, Zero Trust is only effective if it is designed and implemented holistically.

SonicWall is therefore consistently evolving from a product manufacturer to a platform provider. With the Capture Security Centre (CSC), SonicWall provides a central management and analysis dashboard that integrates all security solutions – from firewalls and endpoint protection to cloud security – on a standardised interface. Threats can thus be recognised, correlated and defended against in real time.

SonicWall also offers comprehensive Managed Security Services (MSS) for companies that rely on external expertise. These services give SMEs in particular access to a high level of security without having to set up their own security teams.

The Zero Trust approach in combination with SonicWall’s platform strategy is the key to resiliently countering current and future threats. Organisations that act now will create a secure foundation for their digital future.
