Core principles of data protection

Complete anonymity	You do not need a telephone number or email address. All communication takes place exclusively via a randomly generated Threema ID, which means you remain anonymous even to Threema.
No advertising, no tracking	Threema is financed by licence fees and consistently refrains from displaying advertisements or trading data. Your data remains with you.
Optional contact synchronisation	Threema does not need to access your address book. If you choose to synchronise, contact data is only transferred as cryptographic hashes and deleted immediately afterwards.
Minimisation of metadata	Messages are automatically deleted from the server after delivery, connection data is not logged, and group information remains exclusively on the end devices.
Legally compliant infrastructure	Server locations in Switzerland are subject to the DSG; at the same time, Threema meets all requirements of the European GDPR.
