New research highlighted by Security Brief now suggests that 42% of UK small to medium enterprises now highlight cybersecurity as the main obstacle to digital transformation in 2026. With ISO compliances and tightening bills and regulations causing stagnant technological advancements despite the ambition to adopt, the demand for professional and managed services have never been higher in the market.

The Government are also taking steps to try and combat the rising costs of SME cyber-attacks, with an average yearly cost rising to £14.7bn a year, with a new campaign. The campaign’s key messaging focuses on encouraging SMEs to add Cyber Essentials certifications to their stacks.

We spoke to our Alliances Director, Lewis Dick on this ongoing pain point for SMEs, how partners are now having to evolve to the regulations, and how Infinigate proactively support partners in navigating and minimizing the impact of this challenge.

“The technology landscape is evolving at an extraordinary pace, creating significant challenges, particularly for SMEs. The ongoing On‑Prem versus Cloud debate has become far more nuanced, and now AI and automation add yet another layer of complexity, often before organisations have even defined their cybersecurity strategy. As a distributor and trusted advisor to our partners, it makes sense for us to package that intelligence and deliver human‑driven services that guide SMEs through these decisions. We can support businesses on their AI and automation journey, provide ongoing vulnerability assessments, and deliver GRC and Human Risk Management services. With this level of support, organisations can rely on trusted third‑party expertise to assess and advise on their security posture, ensuring compliance while they focus on their own digital transformation.”
